Use “Love Blind Language – ask, pad, guide, notify” to give blind people accurate, safe and timely assistance.

1. Ask
•Ask the blind person if he/she needs assistance?

2. Pad
•When a blind person requires assistance, using your back of a hand to pad the blind person’s, and put the person’s hand into your elbow to accept your guidance.

3. Guide
•At guiding a blind person, please keep a distance of half to one step ahead so that the blind person is behind you on the right.

4. Notify
•During the guidance, notify the blind person the change of road status timely, such as levels, holes, barriers and such, and talk to the person how to pass through safely.

■ Misunderstanding
You may think “sight inability” means nothing can be done. But, in fact, through learning, blind people can live like you and me independently.

■ Confidence Loss
Once sight is lost, blind people will doubt their remaining sensitivities even they actually work properly. This feeling of uncertainty could further result in their confidence loss.

■ Mobility Inability
Indeed, blind people do find extremely difficult to go around, especially with those barriers on streets and other places. Unless a strong motivation is generated, they will not go out.

■ Daily Trouble
Tiny but detailed daily affairs are taking place everywhere, including using bathroom, keeping self clean and a lot more events. At dinning, the exact locations of dishes, chopsticks, spoons and food have to be identified before enjoying the food. And, living space has to be clean and barrier-free to avoid danger and inconvenience.
